Moore Community Games has teamed up with Ballinasloe Credit Union to provide sponsorship over a two-year period, as the club goes from strength to strength.
The club has had success in athletics, swimming, hurling and handwriting on a county and regional level this year and one of the club’s athletes Senan Greene (9) will represent the club at the Cairn Community Games All-Ireland finals – under-10 hurdles (60 metres) – at SETU, Carlow, on Saturday, August 24th.
The club has had much success in athletics over the years, reaching several national finals and the club is delighted to be represented on the national stage again this year.
Senan Greene has had a fruitful year in Community Games. He won 5 medals at Moore Community Games finals (3 gold and 2 silver) and also won gold with the club’s under-11 hurling team in Roscommon and silver with the same team in Connacht. He was also a member of the club’s under-10 mixed relay team (100 metres) that won silver in the Roscommon County Final in June.
Senan’s mother Suzanne Greene – who is also a committee member of Moore Community Games – said she and her family are very proud of Senan. “Senan has a natural flair for many sports. He is an avid hurler, golfer, soccer player and gaelic footballer. He is determined to succeed in everything he does. To reach the Community Games National Athletics Final is a great achievement in itself. We are so proud of Senan. Hopefully his speed and technique over the hurdles will lead to a good performance in Carlow. Senan is delighted to represent Moore and Roscommon,” said Suzanne.
Two of the club’s athletes, Grace Mitchell (under-14 girls 80 metres hurdles) and Eli Gannon (under-14 boys 800 metres), also qualified for the regional finals held in TUS Athlone earlier this month, after they both won silver medals in the county final. There were also bronze medals (4th place finishes) for Teresa Murray (under-12 100 metres race) and Aoibhinn Whyte (under-10 100 metres race) in the county final. There was success for Moore Community Games at county level for Matthew Dolan (swimming) who won silver in the under-10 backstroke and his sister Grace-Rose Dolan who won bronze in under-12 handwriting earlier this year.
Ballinasloe Credit Union Chairman Sean Madden said he was delighted to establish a partnership with Moore Community Games.
“Ballinasloe Credit Union is delighted to sponsor the Moore Community Games, a vibrant event that showcases the talent and spirit of young athletes in the community. I congratulate the participants on their impressive performances and extended heartfelt thanks to the voluntary committee for their dedication in organising such a successful event. Their efforts continue to foster community pride and support the development of our young athletes,” he said.
Moore Community Games Secretary Sean O’Rourke said the sponsorship is pivotal for the club where more than 100 local children participated in track and field, swimming, hurling, soccer, chess, draughts, art and handwriting events in the parish and at county and regional levels during the year.
“Securing sponsorship for Moore Community Games is a crucial step in ensuring its continued growth and success. Sponsorship not only provides the financial resources needed for equipment, and event organisation but also strengthens our community ties by partnering with local businesses and organisations. In return, sponsors gain valuable visibility and brand recognition within the community, as well as the satisfaction of supporting a grassroots initiative that promotes teamwork, health and positive engagement,” said Mr O’Rourke.
“Moore Community Games would like to thank our main sponsor Ballinasloe Credit Union for their generous donation of €2,000 and also all our local sponsors who without them would make the task much harder for Moore Community Games to thrive into the future,” he added.
